  1. Your best interests are always at the forefront of our minds.
  2. We operate at the highest standard of professional ethics and personal integrity.
  3. The confidentiality of the information you provide to us will be protected as a matter of course – our IP firm takes pride in our spotless record of trust, intact since our inception in 2007.
  4. We regularly communicate with clients about intellectual property processes, possible outcomes and IP costs in an upfront and honest manner.
  5. We communicate in plain English to ensure that you understand relevant intellectual property law.
  6. Your matter will be handled efficiently and conscientiously to ensure that our work is not only of the highest quality but is completed without delay.
  7. We look for opportunities to help clients to profit from their intellectual property – often introducing clients to professional service providers who can assist them.
  8. We provide fixed-cost and capped-fee IP attorney services where possible to assist you with budgeting.
  9. Our patent firm's intellectual property work will always be undertaken efficiently so as to provide you with the best possible value for money.
  10. We walk in our client's shoes – we know what it is like because many of our IP attorneys have worked in-house at research & development firms.
COMMUNITY & PARTNERSHIPS

Supporting Australia’s innovation community

Since 2018 our patent and trade mark attorneys have run pro bono IP clinics, due diligence reviews and masterclasses for Australian universities, accelerators and industry bodies — across health, defence, agrifood, software and cross-border trade. Founders get commercial IP advice while it can still change the outcome.
Baxter IP patent attorneys advising UNSW Founders accelerator start-ups
Baxter IP is a benefactor of UNSW Founders, the university’s start-up engine, and has supported its programs since 2018.

10X Accelerator

Pro bono patent attorney due diligence for every 10X cohort since 2018 — across the 10X Health, 10X SynBio, 10X Climate, 10X Defence and 10X General streams. Each founder gets a plain-English read on what their venture actually owns, what has already been made public, and which parts are worth protecting before they raise.

New Wave

Built for women founders. We have delivered pro bono workshops, one-to-one advice and mentorship since 2022, covering when a provisional application earns its keep and how to talk to investors and manufacturers without destroying patentability.

Coach & Connect

Baxter IP founder and patent attorney Chris Baxter is a UNSW mentor on the program. The questions here are rarely academic: who owns what once a co-founder leaves, whether a provisional filed eighteen months ago still covers the product that shipped, and what a term sheet quietly assumes about the portfolio.
