Baxter IP will be presenting in the upcoming IP Commercialisation and Spin Out Summit 2012.

Baxter IP will be examining the upcoming patent and trade mark law changes brought by the Intellectual Property Laws Amendment (Raising the Bar) Bill 2011, and how the changes may affect commercialisation in Australia. In particular, the changes focus on raising the patentability standards to be similar to US patent and European patent law requirements. Some changes also focus on streamlining the patent process. No changes are expected to the innovation patent system.

Baxter IP will also look at practical ways of avoiding problems in prosecution of patent applications and protecting innovation to stop copy products from competitors. The bill is expected to come into force early to mid 2013.

The Forum will be held on 28 February 2012 at the Sir Stamford Circular Quay, Sydney. Further information regarding the Summit can be found on akolade.com.au.
