Samantha is a confident, highly motivated trade mark attorney who also has significant experience in transactional, commercial and intellectual property law, gained from both private and in-house practice, including working for a university and Corporate Commonwealth Entity.
Samantha’s most recent position at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) saw her working closely with the health, business development, and scientific research units as well as providing strategic advice to senior managers across the institute. Some key highlights for Samantha were being involved in the commercialisation of ANSTO’s gamma ray radiation detection and imaging device, which involved providing trade mark, design registration and legal advice, and internal management of ANSTO’s trade mark portfolio and brand protection.
Clients Samantha has worked for include computer programmers; developers of software and online content; designers; architects; publishers; retailers; inventors and researchers, and she has worked closely with tech-focused start-ups.
A self-described life-long learner, Samantha holds both a Masters in Intellectual Property and a Masters in Applied Law. In 2016, Samantha lectured at University of Wollongong, delivering the Intellectual Property subject to undergraduate students.
Samantha’s first career was in visual arts education and brings a strong sense of conceptual thinking and an understanding of visual literacy to her approach to Trade Marks and Branding.
Samantha’s personal attributes include a strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, and is an analytical thinker, with good problem solving and research skills.
In her spare time, Samantha maintains her interest in visual arts, and enjoys canyoning and hiking.
