Michael is an Australian Registered Patent and Trade Marks Attorney of many years’ experience. While Michael has a strong academic background, he is also driven by a desire to help others. Between a university exchange in Montreal and completing his Postgraduate Diploma in Physics (nanotechnology) with a first class honours thesis, he undertook volunteer work in Guatemala, where he taught English to children who were living amongst the city’s landfill. With a passion for human rights, he later spent a short period in the Northern Territory of Australia conducting research into how IP law could assist in protecting the rights and Traditional Knowledge of Indigenous Australians. It is an area he hopes to further investigate in the future.
As a Patent Attorney and Trade Marks Attorney, Michael has developed an extensive practice in all areas of patent protection and prosecution in Australia and internationally, as well as cases relating to trade marks and designs. His technical skills span a number of areas including medical technologies and a broad range of mechanical devices, mining technology, in addition to electrical engineering, computer implemented inventions and electronically controlled train brakes. Motivated by helping people turn their ideas into a reality, Michael is dedicated to advising his clients on how to best protect their rights and make strategic commercial decisions.
Michael’s recent projects have included patenting numerous artificial intelligence applications including in relation to graphical user interfaces, database security and military communications.
