Jon is a registered Australian patent attorney specialising in the drafting, prosecution and enforcement of patent rights across a wide range of technologies. Having worked in research in both Japan and the UK, Jon brings a wealth of international intellectual property expertise to Baxter IP’s clients.Prior to joining Baxter IP, Jon was employed at a number of well renowned Japanese Research Institutes as a research scientist specialising largely in surface science technology and its relation to various applications in both the biomedical and printing industries. Jon also has a wealth of experience in areas such as biosensor technology and micro- and nano-fabrication.

Jon was previously employed at a large Australian patent attorney firm where he was involved in extensive patent drafting and patent and design prosecution work for a number of leading Australian and overseas clients. Jon also assisted in several opposition cases for a major international client.
Before this, Jon worked as an Intellectual Property Manager at an inkjet printing technology firm in the UK. Jon draws on his experience in working with clients to develop strategies to optimise and best protect their patent, design and trade mark portfolios and is particularly passionate about ensuring a strong commercial benefit can be extracted from their IP rights.
Jon has a Masters Degree in Industrial Property from the University of Technology, Sydney, received a Ph.D. in Chemistry at UMIST, UK and 1st Class Honours in Chemistry at the University of Essex, UK.
Jon is a member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ).
